Frozen: Pizza

It seemed like most of the girls wanted to order pizza for June 7th.   We need to know if your daughter wants to contribute $5 towards lunch.  Drinks and pizza. Totally optional.  You can bring a brown bag lunch if you prefer.

I told them if they bring their money by Monday they can give their vote on pizza toppings and drinks. :)  Put in memo of check, send me a text an email.

Glee Team will be recording on Monday. We hope to finish it on Monday but might need to finish on Thursday.  Here are the girls that are in Glee Team.

Open invite to GT & GG Plus

Penelope is hoping to sing in the talent show at her church in Rancho Santa Margarita on Saturday, June 7th. This is the same day as the music video shoot so I know it is a busy day.  The talent show opens at 6pm and starts at 6:30pm.  They have a potluck dessert and munchie bar.  Your whole family would be invited.

She wants to sing Boogie Woogie.  Anyone that has it passed by next week is welcome to join us.  It is a casual event so we won't be wearing our dresses or even our shirts.  We will be singing as friends rather than as Glee.

If you want to join us, let us know soon so she will know if we have enough.

GT & GG+ this Saturday

Last Saturday rehearsal is this weekend.  This is last Saturday rehearsal before Music Video shoot on Saturday June 7th.

Glee Team Girls

Glee Team are our audio girls and we wanted to let you know some dates we had planned.

July 21 and August 18 are the dates we are thinking for recording our first iTunes songs from Glee Music Academy.   We will do this on regular rehearsal days and Glee Girls Plus will still be learning new songs and getting ready for our Christmas music video that we will film and record in September and October.

Remember Glee Team during July and August is half price ($199 for both months) to accommodate your vacation schedules.  That means that if you leave a week here or there or even multiple weeks this is a great value!

We love working with your girls and look forward to a great summer with the Frozen music video, multiple performances, and two Glee Team audio recordings.

Frozen Music Video

We have told the GT and GG+ girls that they need to pass off the Frozen song by Thursday May 29 or Monday June 2nd.

We are allowing them two options because it is a recording.

1. You can pass of your part with a buddy WITH MUSIC and have all the notes perfect.
2. You can pass of your part with a buddy WITHOUT MUSIC and get 90% of the notes correct.

ONLY Glee Team girls will do the individual professional audio recording but Glee Girls Plus will all be included in the video.

Remember music video is Saturday, June 7th.  We are starting at 7:30am.    Please listen to your CDs.

May 31st: Additional Rehearsal

It looks like we are going to need an extra music video rehearsal for Frozen.  Please put Saturday, May 31st on your calendar in addition to May 10th and May 24th rehearsals.  These rehearsals are 9-11am. 

The actual shooting date is Saturday June 7th.  It takes a long time to shoot.  7:30am until about 2 or 3.  

June 25th performance for all ages

On Wednesday, June 25th we have been asked to sing at Portola Hills Promotion Ceremony at 8am.  We will be wearing our pink dresses and we would love to have you.  We sing near the beginning so you should be able to leave at 8:15am if you attend a different school.

Pre-Glee, Glee Girls, GG+ and Glee Team will all be welcome to participate.  Please let me know if you cannot participate.  Do we have any 6th graders in Glee that attend Portola?

Welcome to Ginger Olsen

A welcome to Ginger Olsen who will be joining us on Monday as an Assistant Director for Glee Music Academy.  She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Choral Education from California State University Fullerton in 2013.  

She will only work on Monday with Glee Team because of her busy teaching schedule. We are thrilled that she has decided to join us.   She will be helping us pass of songs, run sectionals, and most exciting teach theory and vocal technique. 

She already helped this weekend record most of the Frozen demo CDs.  We look forward to working with you Ginger.  

GT and GG+ - Passing Off

You have the week of May 5th and the week of May 12th to pass off any songs you would like to perform in the concert on Saturday, May 24th at Glee. 

We might be performing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy if we have enough students that have that passed off.  You can't pass of that song unless you have at least five other songs passed off. 

On Monday, we hope to start teaching the "Frozen" song.   Emma McKinnon, Snowman soloist,  we will put your music in your folder on Monday.   I don't think we need you on Saturday Emma but ask Karstin on Thursday for sure. 

This Saturday from 9-11am is an important rehearsal for Frozen.   We only have two Saturdays before June 7th when we record so if you can find a way to be there on Saturday that would be fantastic! 

Music Video is only for Glee Team and Glee Girls Plus and the soloists.

Karstin and I were so proud of you.  We had so many comments on what a great job you did on "performing".  Great big smiles and always being a performer.  The dresses were a big hit.  The lady in charge said we were so fantastic that they want us to return next year to perform right before the Luminaria.

7:30-7:35 Dismiss and head over to Rancho Santa Margarita

8:00 Park in the Kohl's parking lot and then walk across the street.   Many of you have asked for street names.  The cross streets to find Kohl's is El Paseo and Santa Margarita Parkway.  Once you turn on to El Paseo keep going until you see Kohl's.  The event is in Central Park which is behind the Bell Tower in RSM.

Check in at the top steps of the amphitheater seats behind city hall.  Look for pink dresses.  :)

8:30-9:00 We perform - The younger girls perform in the last number.  It is free to attend so you are more than welcome to come with parents, grandparents, etc.  Please take pictures and post on Facebook and Twitter with #gleemusicacademy

9:00 Those that can stay, they want the girls to help pass out candles at the side of the stage.  This is completely optional but fun.

You are allowed to stay through the candle ceremony without paying. :)

Solo Auditions

We will have solo auditions for the Glee Concert on May 24th. We will pick very few but I did want to open it up to anyone that wanted to audition.  Age is not an issue, but the competition is stiff.  Come prepared with a minus track.  If we decide it sounds better with piano after the audition we can do that but you need a minus track on your phone or you can email the minus track to Karen.

We also might do some solos for the 4th of July parade and the Orange County Fair so if you aren't ready now, you can start preparing now.

Please make sure to avoid any song that is sexually suggestive, takes the Lord's name in vain or has profanity.
